Does brand of tungsten matter?

I'm looking to get some more tungsten, looking on ebay to see what varity is out there. Is there good or bad brands? Reply:Yes brand makes a diff just like in choosing 7018. I have some GE tungstens and never notice a thing. I also have some Best Welds and notice sparks when initiating the arc at times and other then dipping the tip, doesn't last as long. I think blue is lanthanated so just stick with one color.
Reply:The main differences between brands is the grain size and eveness of the oxide distribution in the tungsten. Some are just plain old better than others, avoid import brands and stick with well known ones and you shouldnt have a problem. (Sylvania, Weldcraft, GE are all pretty good) Oddly enough the people who make some of the best also make light bulbs (tungsten wire filaments)
Reply:I buy from an outfit called Aglevtech on Ebay and have never had an issue.  I think they sell weldcraft and an unbranded box too.  I have all weld craft from them and the price was good and had free shipping.BobI'm spending my Kids inheritance, I dont like him that much anyway!!!!!!Enuff tools to do the job, enough sense to use em.Anybody got a spare set of kidneys?  Trade?

Reply:I have used pure(green), and ceriated(orange) on a transformer machine, and the orange kept a lot better of an arc (better starts too) and it was much tighter.  Granted the orange was tipped (and then balled at the end) and the pure just balled.I'd like to check out thoriated completely disregarding radiation as I have heard it reallllllly isn't that bad.  But I do figure we will all die from cancer anyways, so meh.JoeMiller 140 Autoset (2010)Miller Syncrowave 250 (1996)

Reply:Try diamondground.com.  They claim to be experts.  I got some orange there and for low amp dc it has been pretty good.
