Custom Air Filter Build

So, this is the most recent thing that Ive made, and I built it for my shop. Ive got a two year old Campbell-Hausfeld air compressor, that I use a lot, mostly to power my plasma cutter.It used to take these little disposable canister-style air filters, but now, I can't seem to find them anymore.So, I bought a kohler air filer intended for one of their small engines, and I sandwiched it between two pieces of sheet metal, and put it on the compressor.Im really happy with how it came out!! I also painted it with the same truck-bed liner that I used on the fence unroller, and for the curious, I welded it up with my PT225, and I had kind of a gap to fill. The outside of the pipe I used was a little over 3/4", but I only had a 3/4" and a 1" hole saw. So, I used the one inch, and fooled around with PULSE mode to weld up the gap. Reply:Thanks, Gamble!! I got to really use the filter today, slicing up some 1/4" plate with the Hypertherm.The compressor fills up faster and "sounds" different/better. Reply:Be careful, your old filter probably was a desicant filter (removes water too).  Water will fry your consumables on the plasma torch.You should have used something like this, with water traps or a long line for condensation prior to reaching the filter.  Motorgard filter."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:LanseLittle trick for you when you plasma cut instead of grinding the dross off just tap it with a hammer around the edge and it pops off.  Hit it parallel with the metal surface Much quickerhave funTom
