Howdy,I just completed my 3G/4G FCAW-G Limited Thickness groove qual at school to complete my program requirements. I have spare time yet, and was looking for suggestions on another qual to do before I leave. Doesn't have to be the most "practical", however I don't have enough time for a pipe qual so I'm leaning towards another plate qual... SMAW? What say ya'll?
Reply:SMAW, 3G, 3/8". Will qual you up to 3/4" with stick on 1-3 F/G. Good luck."Discovery is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what nobody else has thought" - Albert Szent-Gyorgyi

Reply:Years ago for our state structural test they gave 2-G, 3-G, and 4-G. Then all of a sudden they stopped giving the 2-G. My personal opinion limited certs are useless. You wouldn't get dispatched out of my union hall with limited certs, unless no one else was on the bench. You should work on 6-G open root with SMAW, for a structural job that gets the employers attention.Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400

Reply:Originally Posted by CEPI'm not sure, maybe around here it might. But I've never tested just on 3-G. It was always at a minimum of 3-G, and 4-G 1-inch thick plate. |
