Thought someone might be interested in an LED gun mounted light that I build to help me see the weld path (a big problem for me).  Check out the attached .pdf file if interested.  Steve Attached Imageslight.pdf (142.7 KB, 2181 views)

Reply:Might have to try this. I noticed that adding floods help but like you said, its bulky and hot. Especialy in the summer. I was going to do this over my ammo reloading press with a not so powerfull light. Maybe I will tape one of my high powered flashlights to the mig gun and give it a try. thanks for sharing.
Reply:Neat idea. My first thought is the attached light will limit the accessibility of the torch. Ive seen guys attach lights to their hoods. Personally I have a flashlight attached to a magnet for those situations.

Reply:Nice idea.Might hold up with a low amp machine in short arc (gun looks like an M10), but don't try this with a higher output machine, especially in spray.  Things get mighty hot in that area.Still like the idea of the LED light mounted on the hood.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.
Reply:I mounted mine on my hood.  It will tilt up/down to set the light exactly where you need it.  Don't use it very much, usually when I'm inside something that needs a bit more light.  Works great with the auto-hood.MarkI haven't always been a nurse........Craftsman 12"x36" LatheEnco G-30B MillHobart Handler 175Lincoln WeldandPower 225 AC/DC G-7 CV/CCAdd a Foot Pedal to a Harbor Freight Chicago Electric 165A DC TIG PapaLion's Gate Build

Reply:Finally snapped some cell phone photos of the new light in da hood..............It helps a lot to help me locate where the gun is at inside a dark structure.  Then the light from the arc takes over.
