Reply:Walter. And there was just a thread on this.
Reply:Also, are you wanting a flap wheel, or a flap disk? Go to lehighvalleyabrasives.com and check them out.
Reply:Sait abrasives there a bit pricey tho but work very well and last awhile

Reply:I second the lehighvalleyabrasive.com suggestion.
Reply:I just received my order from Lehigh Valley Abrasives. I'm sure this will be the only place I shop for this shtuff. Again, customer service is outstanding, shipping prices are great, and I don't have to give tax $$$ to the dirtbag political mafia of hellinois!!!"Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"

Reply:walter flap disks do. not. mess. around.most glaze over on heavy stainless use. walter cuts all the way to the plastic backing.on mild steel though, most anything works ok unless you really go heavy and overheat. some of the more generic ones will glaze over once you start getting into the glue, which can be half way through what you thought was the wheel's useable lifebosses stuff:trailblazer 325maxstar 200my stuff:sa 200fronius transpocket 180100 amp Lincoln w/f97 f350 DITKevin

Reply:I also placed a good size order with Lehigh Valley. I have read mixed reviews on their brand of abrasives, mainly the flap discs, but their prices are to good to not give em a try, and I liked the whole no tax deal....... Will let you Gents know how they hold up. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Stick-Man.

Reply:I use flap wheels from Forney at my local metal shop or Harbor Freight units for light use.
Reply:I refuse to use anything branded Forney after having a 14" chop saw abrasive wheel grenade in my face, and Horrible Freight junk and their steep shipping charges are a NO GO. Sait, Metabo, and Norton get my vote. I'll give the Lehigh Valley branded stuff a shot when it shows up. It damn sure cant be any worse than Forney. |
