anybody in a shipyard ever take this with .045, I am planning to run 3 passes ,1 on each side of the bevel, then 1 up the middle. what would you run for amps/wire feed speed, thanks . louisiana
Reply:No steel backing, or no backing whatsoever (ceramic, etc)? Gonna be a bit of a trick running the root on knife edges, if they are doing this open root (CJP). I run it about like 6010/7018 as far a passes, a root, a bit of a weave on the hot, and a bit more of a weave on the cover, for 3/8" plate. Seems like 25V and ~350 ipm is a good place to start on V-up, .045 but that varies a lot between folksExperience is something you get right after you need it
Reply:I think you are going to have issues getting penetration to the root if you run a pass on the bevel walls first. Start in the center (CJP/PJP) and then work your way out to the walls. How thick?Have we all gone mad? |
