hi im pretty new to welding have done some garage welding in the past and now im in school i want to get a mig welder for hobby welding and mayb some side stuff i could eventually get into not sure what i should get ive bin looking into the hobart 190, hobart 210 mvp , lincoln 180c, also found a used lincoln power mig 215 with new gun i could probly get for 650/700$ i really only have a out 700-900 to spend any ideas??
Reply:I have a good idea, buy yourself the Hobart 210. I have a small welding business and I use the 210 more often than my bigger welders. The ironman would be better if you don't need to transport it but the price is a good bit more than the 210. I needed portability so it was the 210 and so far it has performed well for me.Remember one thing when buying a welder, buy the biggest you can afford because I promise you at some point you will need to weld something thick. It's really nice to be able to crank up the welder to do the weld, you can always turn down the welder but you won't be able to turn it up if you don't have the power.Just my 2 cents from my experience.Good luck!
Reply:Picked up a Lincoln 180C pro brand new for $630 but the tank and extras I spent around $900.
Reply:I'd be tempted to get the Power MIG 215 if it is in good shape. All those you mentioned are good welders."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder
Reply:ya i have bin leaning toward the hobart 210 mvp its at the top of my price range tho the hobart 190 is one sale at tractor suppy for 650$ vs the 900$ of the 210.... im in weldig school now n have a part time job so id have all that much extra money
Reply:I would consider new for warranty reasons. The Hobart 210 , MILLER 211, Lincoln POWER MIG 180 , are all dual voltage machines ,120/230 volts. I would definitely consider anyone of those. The 120 volt may come in handy. The Hobart is the least expensive but you need to review ALL of the features.Lincoln Rebate. http://lincolnelectric.com/en-us/equ...matters_Q32013Miller Rebate. http://www.millerwelds.com/landing/build-with-blue/You will need a 75/25 tank too. I would get package deal price from local supplier. Get price and then ask , how much for CASH ! Posting your location will help.
