I like the term "slider" that I've seen used that is a rush job that slides in and takes over. This was definitely one. Local racer had the transmission cooler inside is his ice water tank blow up, taking the transmission with it. He wanted the transmission cooler taken out, which meant cutting the side out of the tank. This thing was FULL of a nasty red strawberry milky mix of ATF and water. On the bottom bead I hit a couple of pockets in the metal were it had soaked in. When I hit them with the arc, they essentially exploded and put crap everywhere. Needless to say, about 30% of the bottom bead was ground out and re-run. Piece cut out of the sideNew side put on and welded
Reply:He switching to a fan set up? lol! I don't know any racer that puts a cooler inside the tank.www.thefusionsolution.com
Reply:Many of the turbo racers that use automatics do/used to. On the line, when the engine is being spooled and when fully staged, the only thing pulling the motor down is the torque converter since the tranny is locked up (unless you rely on a rev limiter). That means ALL the power from the engine gets dissipated in the converter and essentially into the fluid while it's sitting there. It will literally cook the fluid if you aren't careful...
Reply:All the racers I know even with the turbo cars use a fan set up. I know the air to water intercoolers are used widely.www.thefusionsolution.com |
