Has anybody ever heard of, seen, or know of a switchable box with Miller 14 pin connectors? It would have 14 pin out to welder, and 2 or more 14-pin in from controllers, and allow you to switch between a hand control and foot pedal without having to physically swap the connectors. It sure seems like it would be a simple device, and a logical accessory to have, yet Ive spent hours searching the net here and elsewhere with no luck. Yes, I have contacted Miller and talked with sales, and a Dynasty technician. They dont have anything, and in fact the technician said in 10 yrs hes worked there hes never had anyone ask the question. Anybody ever make one? Reply:Seems easy enough to build one of your own. As long as you have a diagram you can switch back and forth at will and could even go so far as adding a capability for some of the older 2 plug and 5 wire remotes. Then you would truly have a universal remote selector box. If you use the correct amphenol plug ends you just need to select what you need in each position and make those connections through a switch or multicontact relay. Sounds like a fun electronic project for some one a little more savvy electronically then me. Let us know what you end up doing and what it ends up looking like when done.BobI'm spending my Kids inheritance, I dont like him that much anyway!!!!!!Enuff tools to do the job, enough sense to use em.Anybody got a spare set of kidneys? Trade?
Reply:The difficult part will probably be sourcing the plugs and sockets. Those Cannon plugs come in a vast range of variations, but if you can get the connectors the rest should be pretty straightforward. You may have to either buy new replacement connectors, or pirate some of some dead Millers.Cheers, Tony._________________________________Transmig 310 + Argoshield LightOxy acetyleneOxy propanePrehistoric stick welder_________________________________

Reply:I'm wanting to do this myself for the amptrols on my Esab Heliarc machine now that I've got a foot pedal for it. |
