Century 295/250 AC DC??

CL ad for one of these looks in good condition but wants $450 with leads.  Seems high, but I don't know anything about these older units.  More than I need /want in terms of amps, but it looks like a beast.  Anyone think that is too high?  Btw, it has a total of six taps on the front.  Three on the left for DC, three on the right for AC, I assume for hi and low amp scale.
Reply:Sounds a bit steep, but price and availability of welders depends on your location.If you're lucky (and persistent) you can find a Dialarc or Idealarc for that much, industrial-rated machines with higher duty cycle and built to last.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
Reply:My dad has that welder.  It works well and will tig AC or DC.   Welds pretty smooth with 7018.Does one of the taps say "Force" ?DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Thanks, Silicon and David.  There's one just like it on fleabay (see if this link works) for $350 and it comes on a wheel base and looks nicer.Sure as shootin it has a tap on the right that says "force".  The pic on my local CL isn't very clear but it appears to be identical.  Of course the fleabay is local only in Vermont, and I'm about 2000 miles away.  Still the local price is too high, and I think I'd be better off waiting.  Daytons, Dialarcs and Idealarcs show up periodically and I'm in no hurry.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Century-Stic...51225481796855
Reply:Can't speak as to that particular machine, but Century made some pretty descent machines.  Anymore lincoln sells parts for them.  I have a Century 225 Mig that I bought used, I've put a lot of hours on and it has yet to disappoint.
