So,  I came across a air cooled Tig torch on a clear out table for $20, and couldn't resist,  i had to pick it up.  A pack of tungsten cost $5, and I'm half way there! Hopefully soon I will be able to get a Regulator and some gas to give it a test. Until then,  the best I can do is pretend on a chalk line on my welding table. Lol. I want to try my hand at Tig welding to see how I go. My wife is thinking of buying me something big for my 30th birthday,  and it will either be a new(to me) motorbike,  or tools - of which I will be voting for a plasma cutter,  and/or another welder. I'll be aiming to get something to do some occasional aluminium welding, so I'm debating right now if an ac/dc Tig or a mig is the way to go.  I want them all.  Lol.  I started off thinking Tig,  but then actually found the Lincoln power mig 180 for sale here on oz, and having a mig does sound like fun,  but swapping it between aluminium and steel would be a pain. I guess I'll try to get a feel for lift Tig on my arc,  and try to decide then. One actual question for you all,  are there any advantages / disadvantages to a portable mig apart from the obvious? I've seen a few larger migs (not Lincoln though) for just a little more $$$,  with better duty cycle. Cheers, Matt. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk Attached Images
