The two vises I found under a tree, The Ace is model # 3,  its 3" wide jaws. The Wilton is slick, you can tilt the whole vise sideways to 90 degrees besides therotating base. I use it for holding odd items for welding. Its bolted to a piece of scrap 5/8" iron. It has 4" jaws. The 2 jaw faces are pinned, not screwed on.Both are made in USA.Also, can you figure out what the old rusty cast iron unit is for?I dug it up a long time ago, was about 6 - 8 feet deep. Some one of you should know what it is (for).(clue)
Reply:You're a smart man to set a piece of cardboard on your wife's dryer before setting those vices on there. Other wise she would kick your a$$ right up between your shoulder blades!Don’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400

Reply:Ground anchor. Probably for a power/telephone line.  Looks like it would go down a hole the size of a auger. Then tightening the threads on the rod would shove the blades out into the side of the hole.  Oh and nice vices.Millermatic 252XMT 304'sDynasty 280DXHypertherm PowerMax 1250Miller Trailblazer 302 EFIOptima PulserXR feeder and XR Edge gun and more athttp://members.dslextreme.com/users/waynecook/index.htm

Reply:I am probably wrong on this, but that expanding anchor device might be more aimed at a "guy wire" system anchor instead of a grounding cable or pole anchor.I did not find an example of the exact version you have, but I found a different style of anchor at the link below.http://www.hubbellpowersystems.com/anchoring/expanding/
