It is the truth. I love my machine. The other day I was welding 24ga sheet and the day before that it was 1/2 inch. I love spray. Today, I was welding in short circut mode, 1/8 angle. It was a trailer repair, fixing some broken welds and adding fixtures to the trailer for various tasks. When I was finished, I only had one BB to knock off. Every thing else was like fine dust. I was welding with .035 S6 C25. When I was through the man watching commented on how he wished his welder left splatter that fine. I saw his splatter on other welds that I was repairing. His splatter isn't just from the machineAs I was rolling up, I was thinking about other machines I have welded with and I do have an "easy" machine as far as splatter goes. My machine is an L-Tec 250.time to eat.how many are in love with their unit?
Reply:I absolutely love my Lincoln MIGs.They do a great job of keeping the spatter down. Of course knowing how to "tune" the machine helps. These are done in short circuit, .030" 70S-6 with C25...no post weld cleanup.http://all-a-cart.comWelding Cart Kits and accessories
Reply:A quote from ESPN will fit that craftsmanship perfectly... "Momma... momma, there goes that man!" I know very well that the appearance of a weld can belie its structural integrity. That is frickin beautiful, and I'm sure integrity is a-okay.

Reply:Alright i had a bad day and i kind of feel like being "that guy" but that part didnt really even need welded. you could have formed that 90 in there and saved the time and the gas.but for whats thats worth its a very pretty weld.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:Paul can explain his reasoning for himself but I'd be willing to bet that intricate cut piece wouldn't remain flat enough down near the "bend" if done on a brake press. ??Besides, we'd miss out seeing more of his masterful work. Reply:Taking into account it is a primitive tapped transformer unit, with a fixed inductance, the AIRCO/L-TEC/ESAB Migmaster 250 is definitely a nice short circuit transfer and spray transfer unit. On 1/8", short circuit transfer mode with a quality .035 ER70S-6 and C25 is good; however, a quality .030 wire takes the arc quality to even a higher level. The higher end of the short circuit transfer on this unit is very clean running- low spatter for the voltage level. A better spool hub design and wire drive would have probably made this unit even better yet.In the areas of short circuit transfer arc quality and weld puddle wet out, Hobart's Handler 190, Handler 210 MVP, and Ironman 230 are very close to as good as the Migmaster 250. The 250 most definitely has the better low end .023 arc. I'll have to start working on the Hobart engineer to get this weakness corrected.Last edited by Dan; 02-21-2012 at 10:38 PM.ESAB Migmaster 250 Hobart Ironman 230Multimatic 215TWECO Fabricator 181i & 211iHH125EZ - nice little fluxcore only unitMaxstar 150 STH - very nice
Reply:I've always wanted to try the Hobart MIGs but have never had the opportunity.I used to have a MillerMatic 250 and the arc was just too harsh for my liking so I sold it to buy another Lincoln. http://all-a-cart.comWelding Cart Kits and accessories
Reply:I got to run a hobart 187 when they first hit the street and I almost bought one. it was very nice. I don't know about the rest of them really. My settings today were Low/Tap 6/wire speed 4 ish. The wire was .035 Natweld. I found a 33 lb spool for a dollar a pound of wire. I couldn't pass it up. It is better than the L56 wire but pales in comparison to hobart HB28 wire. What I love about my machine is it is very easy to tune into a sweet spot. What I don't like is I don't have a clue as to what volts I am running so I can't convey that info.I also have the spot/stitch/burnback timer module and I really like it though I have only played with it and haven't really used it to it's full potential. I have some spot welding I need to do which I intend to get the full use out of it on.By the way, hijacks are allowed so long as there are pictures.
