Its been awhile since i posted on here. I am in the market for a new mig welder. The miller 130XP has seen better days. Main issues before were that i rented/wasnt allowed to run wiring. I now have my house and had 220 ran into the garage! So its time to upgrade. Id like a miller 212 however thats out of my price range. I do lots of motorcycle frame repair, trailer builds, automotive exhaust/floor pans/body panels etc. I want brand new for the warranty, and preferabley a miller..MAYBE lincoln. Only requirement is NO TAP and spoolgun capable(maybe)I like the miller 211, however the 150A/30% seems to be an issue for some people? or is something like the lincoln 180C which is 180A/30% a better choice?what else is out there..Id like to stay around the 1k range, cheaper the better but dont want junk. I mainly weld steel/stainless steel. I never run fluxcore. Wire size i run most is .030, sometimes .035. Never smaller/bigger.Last edited by Criscone; 02-22-2012 at 10:10 PM.
Reply:Oh and i already have all other equipment, this is strictly just for a MIG setup to replace my xp130
Reply:Who told you the 180C has a 30% duty cycle at 180amps?
Reply:Maybe I read it wrong. I know it's 30% tho. Maybe 130amps?
Reply:Not to be a jerk, but please tell me you have not been doing trailer builds and motorcycle frame repairs with a 110v welder.
Reply:Well, I love my "tapped" voltage setting Lincoln power mig 216.  It cranks out 250 amps set on high power.  It rocks!  I also love the Miller 211.  I don't have it, but I'd like to get one!!!!!  I'm nuts, because I'm probably going to get the 211 and set it up for my all purpose steel welding.  Then I'm going to use my 216 for aluminum only.   I might sell my 140C then, because I won't need it since the Miller 211 has the dual voltage setting.  If I were you, I'd get the Miller 211.  It's small size is great to clear up more space in your shop.  That small size however is has no bearing on the POWER that 211 has!   That Miller 211 can pretty much weld up anything.  It delivers more power than the Lincoln 180C... Reply:Picked up a 211 about an hour ago. As for frame repair/trailer builds using my miller 130XP. Absolutely! I build hardtail bobbers and have no issues. It's only 1/8" thick at the most. Same with all the s10 c-notches/4 links ive done. Nothing wrong at all with it at all. I'll be testing out the 211 in about 15min, pumped!
Reply:Please give report on new machine !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    MILLER BLUE BLOB!!
