My New Lincoln

I was supposed to be buying a used Miller 251 today, but that fell through.  So, I was checking Craigslist this morning, and this Lincoln Powermig 255 popped up.  Based on the serial number, it was produced at the Ohio plant in 2004.  It did not have a ground clamp or a plug.  So, a little work and a cleanup and here it is:It welds great, but the gun is falling apart.  So, I am going to order a Profax from Harris.  BTW, this was fun loading/unloading from my wife's SUV.  It was raining hard all day and I did not want to put it in the back of my truck.

Reply:Nice machine! Do yourself a favor and get a solid bronze ground clamp, MIG is less tolerant of dodgy grounds than other processes.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps

Reply:Great welder. You wont be disappointed. I actually sold my miller 250 and like my Lincoln much better. I never thought I would ever change colors. I cant remember the company name I think its tregas or something anyway I used a gun made by them called a "tough gun" it was awesome might be pricey but if I was in the market for a new gun I'd check into them. I welded hard for a week with 1/16 wire and never burnt a tip it never even got stickey. I'm not a rep for them I have never used there guns since but it left a good impression on me, something most contractors feeders dont do. You ever notice guys think they can over come a bad liner by cranking down the wire tensioner so when it hangs up it spools around the rolls till it looks like a bunch of snakes f**king.

Reply:Great score, we have these at work and they are run day in and out welding great. Care and maintenance are not what they should be either and they just keep going. The one you have there looks to be in great shape. We are also running Tregaskiss guns on our machines. I think a 300amp version.
