When do these small sizes of tungsten get used?  What do you weld with them?  How much current can they handle on DC-?
Reply:Next to useless if you ask me, maybe good for up to 30A.  The smallest that I ever use is .045", & that is only on stuff that is thinner than .020"Might make good toothpicks thoughBuy American, or don't whine when you end up on the bread line.
Reply:Generally you don't use those by hand. There main purpose is for autogenous processes. the smallest generally used by hand is .040 and even that is pushing it. The smaller tungsten you go to the closer you need to be to the work, and holding a torch steady that size being so close is let's say difficult.miller xmt 304 w/ 22a feederdynasty 200dx tig runnerspeedglas 9100xvictor journeymen O/Aesab shadow 5000 shape cutterClausing Drill Press setAVIA d.r.o. milling machine ercolina ercobender 76baileigh hsp-66mJD2 notchmaster
Reply:I was just wondering because the smallest i've ever used was .040, and that was on 20 guage sheetmetal. I couldn't imagine using anything smaller than that for anything.
Reply:Holy cow, .010" is half the thickness of a 0.5mm pencil lead. That's like a sewing needle!
