Hi my grandfather just gave me his Lincoln weld pak 100 flux core machine. I wanted to play around with it for a bit and I tried to plug it into the wall outlet in my garage and after about 2" of welding on flat plate it blows the breaker. This happened a couple times before a gave up and figured that since the fluorescent lights are hooked up to the same circuit in the garage, I just need to put a higher rated breaker in the panel. Then last night I remembered that my Syncrowave 250 also has 110v outputs. So I pulled it out and pulled in the Weld pak 100 and the same thing it starts blowing out the 15amp breaker on the sync250 which has nothing else plugged into it. I turn down the volts on the Lincoln and it still does the same. I was under the impression that this little POS can run fine off a 15amp circuit??? Anyone know why it might be doing this other than I just need a larger breaker? What is the difference between CSA rated input power and just rated input power?According to the Lincoln manual.....CSA rated = 15ampnon CSA input power = 20ampsLast edited by TTnicksocal; 04-09-2014 at 05:50 PM.
Reply:Wow,I had the Lincoln weld-pak HD, it was 88amps of flux-core awesomeness!! little bit smaller than your machine.I ran it off a 20amp breaker....If I would weld at full power, which I always did, it would blow breakers after a good minute of welding.Mainly 1/8 angle iron was what I was welding. And if I had something else flugged into that outlet, like an air compressor or bandsaw, it would pop breakers. So, since you tried it of your syncro, and it popped the breaker, I would think its got a brain problem.I don't know, might try a 25 or 30amp breaker at your buddies shop. (if you can)I just had a 30amp line put in, And I'm gonna see in I can blow that breaker with my HH 135.Don't mind me, I'm self taught, listen to someone, a "trained" electrician....~JohnLast edited by AKweldshop; 04-09-2014 at 06:06 PM.Reason: capsJust a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Reply:Put a new 15 amp breaker into the panel. Could be a faulty 15 breaker.Never add a bigger breaker without upgrading the wire. It could overheat and melt/burn.Just a safety thing.Use my Lincoln on a 15 amp all the time.
Reply:I was thinking it might of had a brain problem as well but it seems the Sync 250 comes with a 15amp 110v circuit. Maybe I will bring the Weld pack in the kitchen tonight to see if it works fine on a higher rated circuit. Hope the wife doesn't soil her pants..... Hahahaha

Reply:It was free... but I want to sell it and get a real MIG. Just need to find out if it all works as it should....Thanks-nick
Reply:Well,I bought mine at HD several back, when they were $200.I used it for a couple years, burnt probably 50lbs of flux-cored forney .035 wire. Paid 8 dollars a pound for that wirethat welder paid for itself over and over. Then I sold it for $180Crazy huh?? Might talk to an electrician, a good one, as there seems to be no "reputable" ones on WW. ~John Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it.
