Thanks to Nathan for the idea ( http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=90691#12 ) . I decided to go with size 50 Dinse instead of Twecos and used the factory hole locations. Paint is currently drying where I went back and touched up the cut edges (original holes were .680" - new ones are 1.194" plus the little anti-rotation keyway). Receptacles are Lenco LDPM-50 and the plugs are LDP-50M. Going to reassemble tomorrow. Attached ImagesLast edited by dbotos; 07-14-2012 at 10:26 PM.

Reply:dbotos--nice job! It's really cool to take someone like that and customize. I would like to do soothing similar with my MIG and TIG machines. Do you happen to know of the DIN 50 female connector part no? I have the exact same male connectors now. Thanks for posting it.
Reply:Very nice, but why Dinse vs. Tweco? Around here Tweco's are the most popular, on the larger machines."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:Thanks for the compliments. I got her put back together this morning. I went with the Dinse standard since I've got two other machines that have them. Machine code is 10426. Not sure what the correct paint for it is - I just sprayed some Banner Red Gloss Krylon in a cup and brushed it on the raw edges. It's not a perfect match, but the body of the receptacle covers it up anyway. Going to go test it out in the hot sun now... Attached Images
Reply:One last finishing touch - color coded the work clamp connection. Also put it on a little dolly to wheel it around (i.e. 12 x 18" piece of 3/4" MDF with four casters screwed to the bottom). I'll have to make a proper cart for it one of these days with storage for electrodes and other goodies. Attached Images

Reply:Thanks. I would say it'd be cool if they came this way from the factory, but with these being lower cost / entry level machines, it'd probably add too much to the cost. Fortunately, though, it's a pretty straightforward DIY. Plus you can make whatever lead lengths you want. |
