I need a quick tutorial on mig wire. Craigslist add:035 .045 MIG WELDING WIRE - $40© craigslist . He texted me a pic of lable, which says:MidalloyMig Welding WireCOPPER FREEAWS 5.28 ER 120-gSIZE. .035 X 33 lb.HEAT No. 10/2556-108456So I'm wondering about the copper free, the AWS,and do I just ignore the heat #, or everything but size.?
Reply:Also wondered if anyone knows the brand? Is it a good deal or gamble?
Reply:This is not a general purpose mig wire. You want AWS: ER70S-2 or ER70S-6 for general work.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:Copper free simply means they use a lubricant other than copper plating to draw the wire to size.....I was told a local company used/uses a soap mixture.http://www.midalloy.com/html/pdf/low...20ER120S-G.pdfLast edited by vwguy3; 04-10-2014 at 12:58 PM.
