Acklands 225 ac Sizzler, anyone own this machine? Feedback on the unit? I been looking for a welder for my brother and found an ad for this welder and an eagle compressor close to home. I know my sears buzz box works good enough, but its the only 220v welder I ever recall using. for $125 for the pair I don't think I can go wrong.Nothing Ever Got Done By Quitting, Never Give Up.
Reply:If it's like this pic, it's an older Miller Thunderbolt.I've had one just like it - they weld just fine.Last edited by MinnesotaDave; 04-10-2014 at 04:09 PM.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:Not a bad little machine. I think I paid $60 for my Chemetron version. Agreed to $50 but the guy didn't have change for the third $20 and wouldn't go $40. Kept it from being scrapped. This is what the authentic Miller (style 706-A4) looks like that someone posted up a while back.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:One thing about it, when all the rest are turned into Miley Virus dolls and tennis shoes with L.E.D. lights, those ole boxes will STILL be throwing sparks and connecting metal. The original Everlasts and the ONLY ones with PROVEN Longevity Bubble gumTooth pixDuct tapeBlack glueGBMF hammerScrew gun --bad battery (see above)
Reply:A little different than those, but from the sounds of it I might have to keep it for myself Here's some pics.Nothing Ever Got Done By Quitting, Never Give Up.

Reply:Walk into a welding supply and say " I dunn broked the heater knob off mah ole Thunderchicken. Ye got one" ?That will get you a new amp adjusting wheel-handle-nut-spring-washer.That compressor scares me. Look for rust around the drain(s) if it has any.Bubble gumTooth pixDuct tapeBlack glueGBMF hammerScrew gun --bad battery (see above)
Reply:Sweet, that's what I wanted to hear. I hope he gets back to me soon. I too am concerned about the shape of the tanks of the compressor, ill have to ask him about it. Maybe the compressor motor has low hours on it and can be salvaged.Nothing Ever Got Done By Quitting, Never Give Up.
Reply:That is a Century not a Miller.

Reply:Well picked up the pair tonight. My leads don't fit from the sears welder (N). So ill be a few days before I set it up. The plug was missing, the wire is 2 grey and one green? Im guessing it doesn't matter on 220v? The wires go straight to the on off switch, Should the long blade wire go to the on or off side of the switch? Burpee- the heater knob was intact, just looked like it was missing. It was super dirty inside so I used the compressor to blow out the welder. That compressor is AWESOME! Its like new! After I got it home I noticed it can be hooked up to 115 or 230! I looked it up and Im seeing units like it for $800+ bucks!! No rust in the tanks either!Nothing Ever Got Done By Quitting, Never Give Up.
Reply:Good to hear your purchase worked out.The lead ends you need are for a miller. They taper down a little thinner than the sears ends if I recall correctly.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
