Had a near perfect day today. I had some "H"brackets to build in place for a fence. The job was only 3 miles from the shop. The temperature was around 78 degrees and most of the job was in the shade. I got through after going to lunch and the man payed me and said how nice it looked and would get me back to build his wife a horse barn. The guy that owns the local powder coat place called me to move a pump jack onto the pavement with my "A" frame so they could get it with the fork lift. I got through just in time to go get on a deer stand and was lucky enough to get a nice doe. A nice day. Attached Images

Reply:Heck of a good day Bob!I really like your crane set-up, is there a build thread? And regarding deer, are you guys in TX still allowed something like 46 each? I know when I was studing wildlife management, it was a toss-up between TX and the NW Territories regarding how many deer could be legally taken.Lincoln SA 200Esab Caddy 160Thermal Arc 201TSMiller Dialarc HFI don't like making plans for the day because then the word "premeditated" gets thrown around the courtroom....

Reply:I still like your truck Bob!!! I would like to see a set of gin poles up close and personal one of these days. Then I might understand how you can set them up and run them with one winch lol. They would be extremely handy to have. With all this gas drilling going on around here, I'd figure I would of seen a set or two by now. But I haven't...oh well lol. And it does look like you had an awesome day!Chris
Reply:Meant to edit my post but, I have read your post over and over about how to run your poles. Chris
Reply:Bob,Is that a long bow you made the kill with? Is that wooden arrows next to the aluminum arrows? Which arrow did you use? (almost looks like two exit holes).BTW: Nice job on the post.MillerMatic 212, Lincoln Precision TIG 225, Hypertherm 45XP

Reply:Originally Posted by BobThe rig will stand itself up and you pull down on the chain that is on the rack to pull it over pivot and the winch lets it back down. The trick is to have the pulley in the bed large enough that the upper edge is higher than the pivot at the bottom of the poles. That way as the winch pulls in, there is a higher angle lift that pulls the poles up.If you could see it in person, you would say "oh yeah, that is so simple". |
