For all Canucks over here, did you have any success with ordering your welding supplies online ? I am mostly talking about shipping, duties, brokerage, etc. Who have you been dealing with and what were your experiences ? I've been looking at a few items on line, new tig torch, tungsten, collets, collet bodies, gloves, etc. shipping quote came up to $100 for my $250 order. I won't even go into a discussion about LWSs in my area, everything is priced ridiculously high.
Reply:Yup, I deal with:http://www.netwelder.com/servlet/StoreFrontandhttp://www.harrisweldingsupplies.com/Both ship USPS/CanadaPost which is what you want. Courier companies ding big time for "brokerage fees", which can be as high as 30% of the cost of the shipment. USPS/CanadaPost charge $10.Also I get a lot of stuff from both Amazon.com and Amazon.ca (I have seperate accounts for each). Not all Amazon.com sellers ship to Canada, but all you have to do is add an item to your account, then edit it and click "estimate shipping costs". You will get an error message if it can't be shipped to Canada. You won't have any issues if Amazon.com is fullfilling as they ship to Canada. Also, here are a couple of Cdn. distributors, but I haven't dealt with either yet:http://www.globalindustrial.ca/c/tools/weldinghttp://samesterweldingsupply.com/ |
