Normally I use solid wire ER-70S6 with 25/75 gas (Miller 211 welder). I also have some fluxcore wire E71T-GS. The spec sheet says it is for use without shielding gas. What happens if I run it with shielding gas? Good, bad, or indifferent?Ken
Reply:Well for on thing they run at different polarity, so you need to swap the cables at a minimum. At best you'll simply waste gas. At worst you'll F with the composition of the weld which may or may not cause issues depending on what you are welding. Why bother? Simply don't turn the bottle on..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:You'd be wasting gas and money. There is a type of flux core wire that also uses a supplemental gas shield. However, the flux core wire you're using is not the type that requires the gas mix.Lincoln Power Mig 216Lincoln AC/DC-225/125Miller 625 X-Treme PlasmaMiller 211 Forney 95FI-A 301HF 91110Victor Journeyman O/PMilwaukee DaytonMakita Baileigh NRA Life Member
