After all the thanksgiving food and visitors I wanted to relax, so I put in my earbuds, turned on the music and started laying beads. It really is relaxing. The first three pics are 6010 and the last two are 7018. Attached Imageshttp://www.facebook.com/Knappmobilewelding
Reply:Very Respectable looking welding. Are those 5Ps?
Reply:Thanks!Started out with 1/8" 5p+.Then several layers with 5/32" 5p+.Then a couple layers with 3/16" regular 5p.Next:Switched to 1/8" Lincoln Excalibur 7018 for a few layers. Then 5/32" 7018 (Hobart and Esab rods mixed). The last couple layers were Hobart 3/16" 7018.Sorta like using different ammo while target shooting.http://www.facebook.com/Knappmobilewelding
Reply:Very nice welds man!!! And here I thought I was the only one who welds to relax and forget about everything. Here is a pad I posted a while back.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...&highlight=pad"Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:Yeah nice welds man. I should have some free time this weekend and I was hopeing to lay some beads down as well. At my job I do mostly mechanical but when I do weld its welding on rotten aluminum and steel, doesnt feel so relaxing. Thanks for posting Nothing Ever Got Done By Quitting, Never Give Up.
Reply:I worked for a couple winters in a cold drafty shop with no heat,  Yea they used to have them.  Every day I would come in about 15 minutes early to warm my foot warmer up. It was a oval cut out, started at 1 inch plate. I would run a couple dozen beads across it with some 3/16 7018. then sit at my bench with my feet on the bottom Of it. It would put heat out for a couple hours, then I would heat it again. In two years it was about 6 inches thick and round on the bottom from warpage. Mac
Reply:I like the thread you linked. Looks good.I have found that running stick and dual shield on large welds is very relaxing. Submerged arc tends to make me drowsy though!  That constant buzz and heat and pipe going around and around.......Doug, post some pics if you get a chance.LOL if its cold and windy out and you are trying to fix rotted, corroded metal and somebody is waiting for you to hurry up and finish, it sucks!!!I live in Texas so our winter cold spells are nothing compared to yall up north!Last edited by Knappweld; 11-26-2012 at 10:40 PM.http://www.facebook.com/Knappmobilewelding

Reply:Those are some nice looking welds, as are the ones in the linked thread.I've only recently gotten back to welding.  Did it a long time ago at a chemical plant equipment fabricator but drifted off.  Now, on weekends at home, and at a class at the local college after work one night, I find it very relaxing.  At home I have an old Lincoln IdealArc 250 and a good oxy-acetylene setup with Harris 2500 gauges.
Reply:that looks really therapeutic. i wanna get myself a stick machine just so I can burn some rods like that.Northern Tool MIG/Flux coreWEL-BILT 4 1/2 angle grinderYou gotta start somewhere!
