As a hobbyist i have always used Lincoln L-56 wire seems to work well for me and less spatter with good penetration and yet to see any corrosion on the spool over the years. I have just upgraded to a new Miller 212 and just wondering what others prefer and why.TimJust some stuff in my shop.
Reply:L-56. I used a spool of Hobart solid core and I couldn't tell the difference between the two.Lincoln Power Mig 216Lincoln AC/DC-225/125Miller 625 X-Treme PlasmaMiller 211 Forney 95FI-A 301HF 91110Victor Journeyman O/PMilwaukee DaytonMakita Baileigh NRA Life Member
Reply:I recently used two spools of L-56 sure to necessity and availability and I must say that I was unimpressed. It produced noticeably more spatter on C25 than my usual Hobart wire. I really like the Hobart out of the three brands I've tried (Hobart, Lincoln, and Radnor).MM211Rigid chopsawDelta Drill Press

Reply:Whichever spool with the least amount of rust on it.
Reply:SuperArc try hobart er70s wire with a 75/25 mix and fine tune that 211, thats the set up I use and my spatter is dust. If you feel like playing and spending a few bucks give it a go, I think you would like it bud. A case of HAMMS bets you do! I hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
Reply:Here I go again with my fav being McKay ER70S-6. But like their SMAW electrodes, it's harder to find and costs more. Last rolls I bought were Praxair's Prostar and they run fine so far."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:My favorite ER70S-6 is the USA made Hobart HB-28. However, I can't find it anymore. I recently started using the HTP wire and love it.Lincoln Powermig 255Hypertherm Powermax 45Thermal Arc 161SOxweld 24R OA TorchStill Looking for an Old Round Top Idealarc 250

Reply:L56 works for me, never tried the Hobart. LWS carries a brand called Weldcote- some rolls run better than others, I only buy it when they don't have the L56 in stock in the size I want.A few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
Reply:My lws gave me a 33 lb roll of Inweld ER70S-6, what little bit i have run it thus far i like, or at least the machine likes. time will tell.TimJust some stuff in my shop.

Reply:Most used is L-50 (E70s-3), I've tried the s-3 and s-6 un-coated Praxair stuff that worked OK. Through the years there has been a good bit of different stuff so here goes.Best generic s-6, no question "Keystone Steel & Wire Imperial88" (no longer available from the "Red Brand barbed wire folks").McKay & Tri-Mark have some good premium players. WeldMold used to be great but now you take your chances...All time best running and good looks wire... Lincoln LA75 (E80s-Ni1).Matt
Reply:Matt how does the LA-75 work for mig we have run 100 's of tons over the years 5/64 sub arc single and tiny twin ??? Only wire we use , other than LA-85/ Mill 800 for 70 ksi work. L-56 , L50 &L61 are also a sub arc wires and L-56 is the same as HB-28 . I want to qualify .045 LA-75 for tack and repairs , hard to get my boses to change .
Reply:Living close to where it used to be drawn and having friends that work there I have run lots of N-S 101 copper free and it runs like butta.
Reply:I have run some esab mig wire and does a great job, but I do run it through an easb welder, I have also run alot of their 6010 stick with a miller inverter welder that is suppose to not like 6010 and it ran real well.ron
