Hi all,I would like to pick up a welding cert in unlimited thickness mild steel plate using the stick process (SMAW). Over the years I've had this one on and off as I worked for different outfits. The last weld test I took was with the Boilermakers Union about 12 years ago for welding boiler tubes but that was internal testing to qualify to be put on a tube welder list as work came up.Anyone know where I can go to test out here in Phoenix? How about what it costs? I have a client that needs to show I'm certified to work on a project he has going on. I would like to get in on it but the cert stands in my way. Thanks for any help,Tony

Reply:Hi fellas and thanks for the replies. JIMcC is right. I went on their web site and saw their price list. Its $550 for the test I have in mind. The only thing with $35 on it was the price per bend of a test coupon. I have an old school bus / RV and me and the wifey talked about taking one last trip in her before putting her up for sale. Maybe we could make a trip out of going to Las Vegas. We'll kill two birds with one stone. I will call around though to see what's what. Thanks,Tony |
