I'm in a vocational school and have only 2 weeks left to get my 3g. Struggling with my cover pass any tips?

Reply:Are you turning your heat down? Are you getting undercut or a crack? Porosity? What process?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalkif you can step across it I can weld it.
Reply:I'm going to guess 3G SMAW.Turn your heat down to 105-115.Watch your puddle. 90 degree rod angle, or a slight push angle (no more than 15 degrees). You will go kind of slow compared to other positions. If you're getting undercut make sure you have a short arc length and you can always oscillate the rod on your way up. Basically a little (very little) wiggle.Pictures and/or more info will help greatly. Especially for other members here who can help you greatly.
Reply:Believe it or not, I found that running vertical up by continually tracing the front edge of the puddle and then cutting back across (think overlapping triangles/semi-circles) works very nicely.
