Hypertherm Powermax 600

Hey guys, firt post here...glad to have found it...i haven't posted many times over there either...can't seem to get many answers on a 600...anyway, I would really like to get plasma cutter and have decided that a 230V will be fine...after looking around i've landed on a Hypertherm 600 and would like to get some feed back before spending that kind of money (@$1400.00)...have any of you tried this unit and if so with what type results...any input will be appreciated...thanx in advance...jf
Reply:I'm using a Hypertherm 1000, think I paid 1950 for it. The largest plate I've cut with it is 3/8". it zipped right through that. I had to get a larger air compressor to eliminate waiting for the air to catch up . I've got driers on the air lines. You need 6scfm @70 psi to run mine. I think the 1000 is rated for 1" but you would have to travel pretty slow to cut 1". I haven't had any trouble with mine it will be a year old in a couple of months. DavidDavid
Reply:freeman2u, I can't give you any feedback on the Powermax 600 as I have the 900. Great machine, but its been superceeded by the 1000 since I purchased it. Doubt you would go wrong with the 600. You might try hooking up with James Mower with Norco Supply out of Kalispell, MT for your Hypertherm. He had every Internet price beat by several hundred dollars when I purchased mine from him. His price was close to $800 better than the "best price" one of my local shops was going to give me. Norco carries all the major brands and their shipping seemed more than reasonable. Can't say if the pricing is still as good...I checked his price on a Miller 251 w/spoolgun and he was more expensive than what I could buy it for locally. In that case the "other" local welding supply matched the best Internet price I could find. Bet you can figure out which shop I go to for most of my purchases nowadays.
Reply:I have had the 600 for about a year and love it. I cut 8" channel with it the other day,nice clean cuts that look like a saw as long as you use a guide.
