I would like to thank the forum, and its' members! I have been looking for a welder to start out with from eBay and Craig'sList. I almost bought a welder that would have been "wrong" for me. Not so much a bad welder, a great welder for someone who knows more than I do about welding.  But in searching about the welder here, I found that others may offer me an easier start into welding than the older machine I was looking at buying. I would rather keep looking than settle now for a machine that might make learning harder.Thanks to all, Sandy

Reply:We're all real happy to have saved you so much misery from buying the wrong machine, without even trying, I guess??? Like Pug asked, which one did you decide was the wrong one for you and why is it so wrong. Some of the older machines, provided they are working as they should, can be easier to learn on than the newer fancier machines. Less bells and whistles, switches and knobs to deal with. Set the polarity, set the amps, turn it on and go. No trying to figure out/learn what all the other features do, that most beginners don't use until they know more about welding anyway.
Reply:Lincoln 375, made in 2009 for 2500.00. I would have have to drive to Texas from Florida!  But the advice about the machine that got me thinking as the of the older machines ark not being as stabile as with the new machines. I was thinking of saving for a miller squarewave 250...
