So my dad brought me a oversize banner the other day and asked me to make him a "frame" or "some type of holder" for it the other day as he hauls multiple oversize loads around the country and into Canada. I would like it to be somewhat light weight, but I am unable to weld aluminum. He said that's fine it can be made out of mild steel. He would like flag holders of some sort incorporated into the frame for the banner. These aren't going to be permanent as he doesn't always want it on the from of the tractor and doesn't always pull the same trailer. He gave me a few ideas, but I would like ideas from you guys if you have any. I'll try to put up more information later as I'm going to try to work on this today a bit. Thanks in advance.-Pat
Reply:Sign measures 6'10" X 17 3/4".I was thinking 1" angle on the corners of the sign, then 1/2" angle or something welded to the 1" angle for the supports that would tie the corners all together.Something like so…Each top corner gets a small piece of pipe with a nut welded on the outside of the pipe and a bolt to secure orange flags. -Pat
Reply:Welded up the corners yesterday. They turned out pretty good. Just need to get more angle stock and finish the framing. Then weld up another one that's identical…I got the bottom corners done too. No pictures of them though.-Pat |
