bobcat folk plate repair

Hi how yall doing im new here been reading throw here for a while. Im in school to get cert for welding and this is a lil project i did in class. My teacher picked up a bobcat folk plat that had the folk slider riped off so he asked if i would fix it for him.  So i did my prep work grinding like no tomorrow. Welded the slider back together 6010 root and filled with 7018. he helped me fit it. then i welded the sides in  as well as welded the back  of the plate. let me know what yall think thanks joey. Reply:It will probably hold, but I guess this is not the answer you are looking for.The beads don't look (read, consistent) and the surroundings are full of spatter, arc strikes and BB's.Not much to say about penetration but the close up shows the bead somehow sitting on top. I wouldn't expect much penetration either.I think you would be better off if you cut/grind those beads, practice in a few scrap coupons to figure out the best settings for your way of welding and weld it again.Best of luck!Mikel

Reply:What did your teacher say about that repair? If he oked it or said that it was good He should get a different job because he doesn't know s--t. Those are very poor welds and before that attachment is used it should be gouged apart and done properly.
Reply:ight thanks im not a longisland boy this is just were im at. the welds were donr with 6010 on the sides a couple passes and 3 passes of 7018 i redid a few that night but i thought i took new pics ground off and rewelded those. i also talk to my teacher and he said it works fine.
