Hello,I am Jamil and newbie in this forum. I want to make a anti-spark brass chain for using in hazardous area which the vapour of hydrocarbons may exist.I have seen similar chain in a British lifting crane. I need to know which is the best method for welding of chain, because normally the steel chain is manufactured in fully automatic chain production line which is not economic for 30 - 40 chain we need. I suppose to use oxy-acetylene welding but one of my friend recommend laser welding. I have no idea about it but is it possible to use laser welding for C28000 brass alloy? Is it economic? Is oxy-acetylene welding of this alloy difficult? Regards,Jamil
Reply:sounds like you dont need strength, just nonsparking conductivity. brazing should do what you need with a minimum of heat , cost, and equipment.
