Heres a trencher Im working on, this is where the grader blade mounts. Its a wore out mess and I think a poor design. I want to put 2 arms under it instead of the big wobbly tube. I think that will keep it really stable. There is a backhoe that mounts on back too and the grader blade works as the outriggers so any slop back there really throws the machine around.
Reply:Is this the trencher that you pulled the backhoe off? Or another project? Are you building it to trench or have some other design in mind? I'm not sure I understand what the arms will do yet... but I'm sure you'll post more photos as progress is made.
Reply:After looking at your picture I immediately thought to the Trebron spades that are built for heavy wreckers. Here is a photo from google imageshttp://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...u5Jf3EKnK6iKUgThose are known to be very tough and have been made for a long time, So obviously this design has some merit and it's similar to yours. Rather than re-invent the wheel I think I would try to make what you have strong enough to hold up. Looks like the bottom of your outer tube is stretched. I'd either replace the tube, or more likely get out the rosebud tip and hammer it back into shape. Then cut out some square O shapes to slide over the big tube and keep it from expanding.

Reply:This is similar to what Id like to do. this is the one I cut off the backhoe. The hydraulic cylinders that raised this went on the outriggers on the backhoe. Since my trencher is so much smaller it only has one cylinder for the grader blade. |
