Hey guys,Here's an interesting project that came in a week ago. It is a hydraulic powered ram to crush tires & wheels thus causing separation of tire & crush of the wheel. This fellow owns a huge salvage yard & I have done other projects for him. This was quite interesting as he brought up the I-beam sled, & all the parts measured, cut, cleaned, & ready for assembly & welding. He had all the parts on the shop floor & it looked like a huge Erector Set with every piece marked as was on the dwgs.. There is a 75# sq. steel block 20"L welded to the runner to balance the shield weight on the front left side. He furnished (5) dwgs. with his exact locations & weld specs. I asked him how much time he spent in getting everything ready & he said he had (3) days of work getting all ready. I smiled & said: "look how much money you saved"......he nodded in agreement knowing the last project I did for him the hours it took for all the work I did to complete it. I like these kinds of jobs......easy, nice $$$, & a happy customer. He brought it over clamped to a dolly in his truck that is equipped with a hyd. crane to get it into the shop. Woof....HEAVY!!!!! Nice to be abIe to just roll it where I needed it. I couldn't get the scatter shield mounted as it's too heavy for me to position by myself, so he is coming over Mon morning to help me position it & do the finish welding. Reply:A guy in farm show built one of these but his doubles as a log splitter.
Reply:I bought a set of plans with the intention of building a wheel crusher and cutter. I created all the cut paths to bid the materials and then I got busy on other stuff. I looked at the log splitter style but really fell in love with this design. Maybe you can up sell the customer. Here's a link to the plans if interested:http://gizmoplans.com/wheel-crusher-tire-cutter |
