Hi all,Just wondering if anyone has made a tire dismount tool before.  I'm looking for some ideas.   I just want an easier way to do it as using levers is a pain.  I have a tractor tire that needs removing and repairing.I came accross this http://www.alltiresupply.com/p-TNT-100-1.html  it looks like it's pretty easy to use.  Anyone make something like this before? Thanks
Reply:I have seen them being used, but never used one myself.  Still doing them with the old skool bars. That thing is expensive and as often I do large truck tires it doesn't justify getting one yet. Will   Supports Autism Awareness                            My ToysBobCat 225 PLusMillermatic 130Miller Spectrum 300 CutmateEverlast Power Tig 185 Micro April is Autism Month .
Reply:if any of you guys are subject to osha,i just learned that they require truck tires to be deflated before removing any lug nuts.on duals, both tires have to be deflated. interesting. glad they weren't around in the 50's when i repaired 23" split rims.miller thunderbolt 250vlincoln square wave tig 175 prolincoln idealarc mig sp250everlast tig 210EXTeverlast power plasma 50chicago electric (hf) 130 tig/90 arcchicago electric 90 amp flux wire3 sets oxy/acet
Reply:Yeah I wouldn't want to pay for it, but making it is a different story.  I wish that I had one here that I could copy haha. Are the bigger tires harder to remove?  I tried a couple of old car tires here and I got them off relatively easily.  I need to try remounting them to see if it is easy. The tires I need to do are 14.9-24 on an old massey ferguson tractor. Also they have inner tubes fitted.I seen on youtube were they spray something flamable around the tire and then put a light to it to seal the bead, but I assume this is just for tubeless tires?  I don't think I will have to do that.  Do i just fit the tube and tire and pump with air and it will seat it self? Thanks
Reply:I have that Golden Tool set. I bought it right after I fell on my arse using the old school, two tire iron trick. And to make it worse, it was in front of my uncle, who I just took over the trucking from, right after he said "just take them to a tire shop"!!! I've been doing my own ever since. The Golden Tool is the poop, although very expensive. Let me know if you need any dimensions. I gave them all, with pics, to another guy over on a different forum. I don't know if he ever made one or not."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:I've found smaller tires harder to remove. My tire guy only uses spoons to remove truck tires and they do commercial truck and equipment tires almost exclusively.Hardest part with tractor tires is usually getting the beads loose. We used to use the backhoe bucket and one stabilizer to break the beads on the tractor tires, then go at it with spoons. Tire guy just whacks them with the tire sledge..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Had a friend that lives up near Fort St. John and he used Acetylene on a flat he fixed for us, but not recommended due to the danger of blowing tire right off of rim, but also the stress it puts on a tire.
Reply:I take my tractor tires in. For car and pickup tires I have the harbor freight bead breaker tire changer. It is usually 39.99 on sale. Can't be beat for $35.00 with coupon. It must be anchored and works well considering. http://www.harborfreight.com/automot...ger-69686.html
Reply:Just got back from getting 4 new sneakers on the work truck While I was waiting, I saw them do 4 different sized tractor tires, from the small front tire on  a Kubota, to a large backhoe tire. All they used was a tire hammer and 2 spoons on all of them, same as when they did the 4 for the truck..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Originally Posted by Rog02Yep and I bet the tractor tires were all still mounted on the tractors, too?  We charged extra if you brought in just the tire and wheel as it was a lot more work to change a dismounted wheel.
