Ever since all the chopper and street rod shows have hit the tube, I have been seeing the belt grinders they are using.  Does anyone know where they can be purchased?  I did a google but the only hits are industrial grade equip and cost thousands of dollars.  I bought a cheap craftsman belt sander to try but it is weak and the belt is for wood.  My price range is in the $500 range.  What do you use?
Reply:I built one from junkyard scrap that works quite well and uses 2x72 belts.  Go to this linkhttp://www.balconesforge.org/techarticles/tech.htmand read the top article.Get it hot and hit it hard...

Reply:I just picked up one from grizzly, I particularly like it. Have owned a couple other models and this is by far the best crafted:http://www.grizzly.com/products/item...emnumber=G1183Driving a Jeep is like drinking tequila... Reply:Bruce,Only made two at the time because all I had were the two scrounged motors.  I have another motor now and plan to make one to run 6000 SFPM.HollisGet it hot and hit it hard...
Reply:New guy answer:  I bought a belt/disc grinder from Grizzly.  I seem to remember it was in the price range that you have.  Part # escapes me at the moment, but it's 110vac, 6"x42" belt, and 6"dia. disc.  It's certainly not a heavy duty tool, but it works...  HTHJack Culver City, SoCal
