Can anyone tell me if the Hitachi brand chopsawLowes sells is a good choice? $150.00It would mostly be used on square tubing.Thanks.Gregg
Reply:I would assume its a good saw, have never used one from them though. They sell other brands too I believe. The ridgid has worked well as did a Skil I had, there is always Milluakee. One feature I like on them is a locking trigger button. Its a must for me and a lot of the new ones dont have them. A chop saw is very versatile and an experienced operator can do a lot of things on one. I wouldnt be without and when I overheated my Skil it was a nationa crisis to get a new one. I was without for a week and it about drove me crazy.www.urkafarms.com

Reply:Nice set up.The only chopsaws Lowes had were GMC (China) $99.00,DeWalt (China?) $199.00, and Hitachi (Japan) $150.00The Hitachi had an aluminum housing and just seemed tobe better made than the others. I would just get the 4X6 Bandsaw but I am short on space. Thanks for the reply.Gregg
Reply:even with a bandsaw a chop has its place. I have a bandsaw and dont even use it. Some days we cut a dozen different pieces and its so easy on a chop, plus you can slot and cope angles and cut hyd hose and debur, I could keep going. I sawed some folded expanded metal on it the other day. I take one along for cutting conduit on wiring jobs. For plumbing work too.Last edited by Sberry; 08-23-2004 at 11:55 AM.www.urkafarms.com
