Hey all,Im new to the forum but have been fabricating and welding for about 15 years. I recently purchased a Miller synchrowave 180 from a local guy and today bought a miller coolmate 3 and torch and all the accessories from the welding supply guy that services my shop at work. I got the new cooler, torch, ect hooked up and filled and turned the machine on and felt a signifcant vibration all the way thru the lines to the torch. I figured it would need a few minutes to circulate the coolant all the way thru the lines so I waited about 4-5 mins and just let it sit and run and it continues to vibrate. I tried welding with it for a minute or two to see how noticable it is, VERY! I use the same cooler at work with a dynasty welder on a daily basis and have never felt the torch vibrate from the cooler. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks,BC_99

Reply:when I use the WP-18 torch on aluminum I get a huge thump in the torch in between welds, like a surge of water pressure when the solenoid opens........I have been using a Lincoln chiller for 17 years and just accepted this as normal.....it welds fine and never shows any signs of over heating, but I do wonder why it HITS so hard?  Miller Dynasty 350Twenty Six HammersThree Crow BarsBig Rock
Reply:I have felt that surge you mentioned before, but have never felt this kinda vibration in a torch. It will literally vibrate itself off of the bench if I set it down. Its strange. I suppose I need to call the service guy I got the unit from and see what he thinks, just thought maybe someone here may have experienced this before.BC_99
Reply:New type of "pulse" TIG. Sounds like the relief valve may be cycling rapidly.  Maybe a quick check of the set pressure?  Clogged filter?  Have you confirmed return flow from the torch?Last edited by duaneb55; 07-01-2012 at 03:06 PM.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!

Reply:The machine is reconditioned by Miller, Has new filter, lines, torch, ect. Have not confirmed return flow, It welds fine, but for the vibrations. Its kinda hard to keep a steady puddle. Im going to call the welding rep tomorrow and see if he can point me in the right direction. Thanks, BC.edit: I have now confirmed coolant return is fine.Last edited by BC_99; 07-05-2012 at 06:17 PM.
Reply:Well, I talked with the rep i bought the machine from and he exchanged it for another reconditioned unit, and it works fine, so I guess the pump had some internal issues. Anyways, thanks for the responses, now go strike an arc.BC_99
