Reply:You can buy a adapter that will slide into the small receiver for less then wasting that one. http://www.harborfreight.com/1-1-4-q...ter-65023.htmlVery scary looking. It would work fine if you want to hang your hat on it.

Reply:Looks to be a lot of tubing sticking out for hauling a horse trailer ,even with it doubled wouldn't pass an MVI around here.
Reply:They sell them here in the states. They are called Super Hitches. When he took it home, he hooked up his flat bed trailer, and backed his Kubota 3200 tractor with 1,500-pound counterweight onto the trailer. He bounced the counterweight several times. I built this hitch 8 or 9-years ago. Still going strong. Reply:The amount of flex caused by the leverage on the length of this must put a tremendous strain on the truck frame...... Or am I missing something here?

Reply:I could see something like this for an extension where there isn't a lot of tongue weight, like a motorhome/car dolly.
Reply:Is that a 2-5/16" 10,000# ball in the original post? ;-)As for the "farmerized" hitch, well......geesh!Reminds me, some years back, a friend (actually my wife's ex) borrowed my car hauler trailer. He only made it a mile before the hitch on the truck gave way. Actually it was the truck frame that gave way, the hitch was okay. Fortunately, he was going slow on a slight downhill. Another mile and it would have been a steep uphill on the highway! He routinely pulled a horse trailer with that hitch! Of course, the safety chains were properly attached.....TO THE FAILED HITCH!

Reply:today's new word is farmerized Irish, thanks for expanding my vocabulary. I've often struggled to come up with a word for some of the things I see on the farms.

Reply:I like the new term " Farmerized" also. When you're in a rush and need to get the hay out before the next rain shower, anything that will get the job done is good. Just don't pull it on a public highway in front of my daughter. Kinda like Clark Griswald, I'll pass it up and leave it safely behind me! |
