Reply:What is the advantage??  It looks to be really nicely made but "appears" to only have the rod out the side or is it multi position??

Reply:Yeah,Uninsulated is BS.You cant even set it down on your table.Only for pipelines, but if you forget and lay it down on some grounded steel....Seems crazy.Insulation wouldn't get in the way of anything...I'm a critic tho.~John

Reply:If you're just welding pipe (or welding pipe 99% of the time), you're not laying the stinger on anything that's grounded.  So it's not an issue.  Just from habit I guess, when I'm welding on something on the back of the truck, or on a table in the shop, I don't ever lay the stinger on anything.  I've been using just a regular Tweco stinger for quite a while now, but getting ready to order some new T300's.  One thing with the Stinger V, you can't just flick the rod butt into your rod bucket like you can with a normal style.  You pretty much have to just drop the stub out of it (so I've been told, and can see what they mean).  Otherwise, I don't think I've heard of anyone not liking them.  Just a matter of preferance.  Some people like the twist type "short stub" holder I think it's called.  Others don't... Whatever works for the individual... Reply:For no known reason to me I never lay the stinger on metal either.I kinda think a better bite is a good idea as the last couple I tried I thought were kind of junk. I was thinking about trying a twister but I still like the idea of being able to let go of it. I might have to try one of these.
