Is there any way to modify the pipeliner hoods ? I had stripped headgear so I got a nutt to fit in the hole on the hood and used a couple of washers to get a m6 bolt through and some wing nuts. I am unsure how well this is going to work but I'm gonna try it out. Also I have a issue when the hood comes down I have a issue of the hood pushing on my chest and can't get real comfortable with it. I believe I seen somebody say they modified it by cutting it down some has anybody done this or has pics ??

Reply:Unless you have a giraffe neck they are pretty much cut to fit hoods, I cut about a good inch off the bottom and rounded the corners a little more with a slice disk. Just keep in mind for the amount you chop off thats more of your neck going to get indoor sunburn thats what the cuff off a wholly tig glove is saved for.Ranger 250 thick stuffHobart Handler 140 not thick stuffthe pane and oxy setup
Reply:Yea lol I have a older old glove I can use for that done it on my miller elite I just got done cutting 1" off of it and rounded the sides as well and posted a pic. Not to bad of a job with a grinder and a 4 1/2" cutting wheel I have steady hands which is a good thing I drew it out measuring a inch about every 2 and connected the lines then went to work.Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
Reply:Awe man you was cutting while I was typing (more like pecking), let us know how the lens works out for you.Ranger 250 thick stuffHobart Handler 140 not thick stuffthe pane and oxy setup

Reply:I have a regular Wenslens shade 10. I like it a lot more than green plastic lenses. I am not to sure how much I cut but I did at least 1.5 inches on the bottom and kept grinding more, and around 2 inches on the top. The top so I can flip it up completely vertical. Test it out a few times. I pretty much kept removing more and more. What type of welding are you doing? Or field are you working in?Local 83
Reply:Currently I'm still finishing up my schooling I got laid off from the mines so I was like screw it I'm young so started welding cause I've always enjoyed doing it but was more of a hobby welder. As of right now I'm doing pipe and will be until august. I will be doing my tig and mig classes thus summer on top of finishing pipe. Good thing about it I'm in one of the top schools in Alabama for welding. So if I don't get back in the mines I'll persue this career or if I do get a call back then I will have an extra edge getting a maintenance job.Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk

Reply:I don't know maybe some small bolts with nylocks and fender washers, wouldn't be easily adjustable but once you got it it should stay there.Ranger 250 thick stuffHobart Handler 140 not thick stuffthe pane and oxy setup
Reply:Here's mine. I think I cut 1 1/4" off, I would have to check the drop if I still have it. As far as your hardware issue, I was hoping CEP would chime in, because I think that's where I seen the wing nuts setup. Maybe drop him a PM to chime in here, I was curious about this also."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:I don't know why FieldRes removed his Pipeliner mod video from YouTube, but here's another guy that did one.  I just posted this video on another thread and thought it would be good here too.  Sellstrom flip-front part #27300 for those that are just now inquiring about all this....
