Can anyone tell me Causes of Porosity of Die-Castings and How to Improve Die-Casting?Thanks in advance!
Reply:It's usually done by pressurizing molten metal in the mold.
Reply:It depends on what you mean by "porosity". Gas bubbles, slag inclusions, draws, hot tears, voids, cold shuts or shrinks. It could depend on what material, what procedure, pressure or gravity cast, mold coating or lack of coating, pouring temperature, incomplete or lack of degassing, part design, mold design, gating and or risering or what alloy. There are enough variables to fill a library and in fact it has filled several. You need to be more specific. And yes, pressurizing the metal can solve/overcome some of the above.---Meltedmetal |
