Reply:Spray transfer wire feed. Here is an article on the subject from 2010.http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...70138588,d.b2UAn excerpt from the end of the article:Summary of BenefitsThe Ar/O2 mixes offer the followingadvantages over traditional mixes (Ref. 2):• Reduction of weld spatter and fumesand subsequent postweld cleanup.• Increased welding speeds.• Higher deposition rates.• Excellent weld profiles and mechanicalproperties.• Improved weld economics.• Achieve spray transfer at lower weldingparameters than conventional Ar/CO2mixes.• More consistent gas mix than mixerscan provide and the components neverseparate.• Single tank system eliminates theneed for a mixer and second storage tankor cylinders.ConclusionVarious factors such as gas, labor, wire, and energy should be evaluated in the selectionof shielding gas. Using Ar/O2mixes provide an opportunity to increasewelding production and reduce variablecost along with the price of owning ashielding gas supply system. With properwelding techniques, there is no reason tobe concerned about loss of metallurgicalproperties or performance.Last edited by MinnesotaDave; 07-07-2014 at 09:14 AM.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:interesting thanks dave i wonder if my supplier would fill that bottle with 100%argon?
Reply:Likely they'll just swap it out for argon if that's what you need.So far, my LWS has had no problem just swapping same size tanks and selling me what I need for contents.I've heard others say the same.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:Agree, they may charge for a rectification  but worth it for sure. It depends on supplier.

Reply:I run 95/5 almost all the time on my 250 amp machine.Lincolin Power Wave 450, Lincoln Powermig 255, Lincoln Pro Mig 140, Lincoln Squarewave Tig 275, Miller Big 40 G(with Hobart Hefty suitcase), Thermal Arc 95S and Esab PCM875 in an already full machine shop.
Reply:So begs the question, what I'd the disadvantage of it.    Other than it is hard to find at most lws in smaller than 330cf tanks.Tiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250
Reply:At the same voltage settings 95/5 will produce less penetration than co2 and co2 mixes. So just crank it up some more or if its really thick I just use the 450A machine. I started using 95/5 when I had my powermig 200. It was the only way to achieve a spray with that small machine. Definitely worth it to be able to lay smooth beads with no spatter to clean up.Lincolin Power Wave 450, Lincoln Powermig 255, Lincoln Pro Mig 140, Lincoln Squarewave Tig 275, Miller Big 40 G(with Hobart Hefty suitcase), Thermal Arc 95S and Esab PCM875 in an already full machine shop.
