I'm not a professional welder, so I don't know this. (not that knowing this will make me a pro)What does 1G, 2G, 3G, ect. stand for? I see people saying they did a 4G weld (or whatever) but never understand what it means.Sorry for the ignorant question. Thanks.

Reply:good morning here are some of the designations, (G) is groove, and you also may see (F) which is fillet1G = flat groove weld2G= Horizontal 3G= vertical4G= Overhead
