ok, I am sure this is old hat to all of you, but I have searched and hunted and found a lot of info on this, but not really what I am looking for. So let's start new on this age old question. I just bought a 301g trailblazer, I have a 12vs feeder, so the question is, in simple explanation to start, how do I want to hook these two together? I/ve been told to hook it both to cc and cv, i've been told to ignore the vs wire setting on the face and leave it on stick, to set it to the vs setting but set it like it's a stick weld, to hook the ground to work and the volt sensing ground to either the work or the ground on the machine, and on and on. SO if I can, would someone just start out with the basics of how I want to hook it all up just to get started? I know this is dumbing it down, ALOT, but I am so frustrated right now I just want to start with it simple. Thank you
Reply:Hook the CV into the back of the Feeder. put your work lead on the part your welding. Put the ground clamp from the feeder and hook it on your workpiece as well. Now make sure the feeder is set to CV (inside the case, also check to be sure the CB is not popped while in there) Now turn the trailblazer on and set the voltage on the trailblazer itself using the knob. Also, be sure the proper polarity is selected for what wire you're using. Turn on the feeder and set your wire feed speed on there. Weld away.

Reply:Ok, now, am I to understand you want electrode positive for solid wire and electrode negative for flux core wire? I was told also that this set up wont work with anything less than .035 solid wire and .045 flux core wire. Is that correct? Thank you for putting up with this, I know it should be simple enough, but I've gotten so frustrated with this that I just needed it simple. I had this hooked up the same way that was described to my bobcat 225 and I never was able to get a bead out of it so it has sat unused until now, so I needed to remember how it all hooked up so I could start over with it. Thank you again
Reply:It will work just fine for smaller wire, so long as you are using CV. Ignore whoever is telling you to hook it up to stick and use cc, you will have a heck of a time and it is a much hotter process. I am running .035 in my voltage sensing feeder and have run .030 on occasion when I ran out during a job. BTW, you can go to the Miller site ( millerwelds.com) and download your manual. It shows exactly how to do this. |
