In restoring my Ghia, it looks like I'm going to be doing more than just sheet metal.  I'm going to be doing frame and suspension work.  So, I'm going to need to step up to a beefier 220v unit, as this 110v Eastwood ain't going to cut it.What do y'all recommend?   What about wire size for this thicker stuff?
Reply:If it were me (and hopefully soon it will be) I would look at the Miller 211 MVP, Hobart 210 MVP, or Lincoln Dual 180GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
Reply:I've got the Hobart. I like it a lot. It's the same as the Miller with a few minor differences. Or... If you like your Eastwood they also sell a dual voltage welder. But I personally like to stay away from Asian machines.John 3:16(2) Miller Pheonix 456(2) Millermertic 252Dynasty 210DXHobart 210MVPDoringer D350 SA Cold SawScotchman 350LT Cold SawWebb 10x50 MillWebb 15x40 LatheGeka Bendicrop Ironworker
Reply:I love my lincoln 255 but have used millers and hobarts alot they all run fairly similar and you won't notice much diff in how they run.  pretty much any good brand 220volt machine will get the job done for you
Reply:I might have a lead on a Lincoln 180T.   ? ? ? ?

Reply:Just the other day a guy from another site brought his Miller 211 MVP over for me to help him with is welding. What a sweet little Mig welder! He had .030” wire in it. He was having trouble with welding 16-GA box tube. But I had to see what that little machine could do. Oh, if it was my machine I'd sand the chart off on the front of the machine, it was way off! Reply:I'm looking at the 211 now.  Price wise, it's not a whole lot more than the Lincoln.
Reply:That's the second time in my life I ever ran a Mig machine that small. The first one was a Hobart 120-volt Mig machine, that thing wouldn't make a good door stop! This 211 had a real sweet arc. Took a little bit for me to get use to such a small gun, but I can see where the small gun could come in handy.Don’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:I really like my Miller 211.  Big enough to weld what I will be welding in my garage (I'm not building a bridge or a ship) and still have the option of 120v if I need to weld a small project somewhere else.  These are nice units.
Reply:I'm wondering if I would be happy with the Miller 180 or if I would regret not spending the extra $200 for the 211.

Reply:Either the 211 or jump to the 252 MILLER. Don't even consider the 180. One local supplier doesn't carry the 180 or the 212. They told me they sell 140,211, or the 252.
Reply:Whelp, I've done some research and compared some prices.  A Miller 211 it is!
Reply:Excellent choice. I don't have one, But Dad was building street rods and I did a bunch of frame work for him using his 211 and was pleasantly surprised at how smooth it was. 75/25 gas and .030 wire the "Autoset" actually was pretty close when I finally tried it. BTW, I like Blue anyway.
Reply:I'll have to repaint my cart.
Reply:I know a couple people in my town with MillerMatic 211's there good machines but the Hobart Handler 210 is good to.Lincoln pro core 125 14''chop saw7 inch grinder,2-4.5 inch grinders, electric die grinder.Half inch drillAnd alot of hand tools
