I am building a Barbecue and need to make the door sit flush with the rest of the barrel. I made one strip that is along the bottom edge of the door. For the side pieces, how can i measure how long they need to be? Also, how can i bend them to fit the shape of the barrel?Miller Dialarc 250 AC/DCWeldcraft A-150VSmith O/P
Reply:I use a seamstress tape that belonged to my great aunt to measure curved pieces. Yes, I covet that tool because it was hers.I think a ring roller is your best bet for a perfect curve in flat bar but you could heat it up and bend it around something the same diameter as the barrel.GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
Reply:You can use the barrel to make the bend. Wrap the flat around the barrel and tweak as needed.  Then trim as to fit.
