I am getting an R-Tech AC/DC TIG welder 200amps, being new to TIG welding I need some advice. It apparently comes with a WP26 Air Cooled Tig Torch which alot of people are telling me is a bit big what are your opinions on what a good torch would be for this size welder?Lee
Reply:I wouldn't worry about it - I mostly use my flex head wp-26.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:A 26 is pretty big, just shorten it up with a stubby gas lens kit
Reply:Thanks for the replies lads, I will obviously be using the 26 torch that comes with it to start with but if I find it to large I was wondering what the best torch size to get!  As for a gas lens set I have been looking and some companies charge as much for a single lens that I can get a set of three with back caps isolators and collets from China, is a lens a lens or are there better versions in as much as that I could tell a difference?
Reply:A cheap lens is just that, I suggest you order you consumables from a reputable place like arc zone, CK, etc... Reply:My T/A 186 came with what is affectionately known as a club. It is a monster huge 26 series torch. I have since purchased a Pro Fax 17 and a Pro Fax 9F. I mainly use the 17. A decent tig torch isn't that expensive....

Reply:As others have said, it has little to do with the welder and more to do with what you plan to weld. Why not explicitly state what materials you plan to weld and the thicknesses involved? 1st on WeldingWeb to have a scrolling sig! Reply:Buy a 9 and use the 26 when you need to use higher amps.  CK torches generally have better duty cycles than most.  I believe that their 9 series approaches the duty cycle of some 17's
Reply:I can't remember off the top of my head if the 9 parts work on the 17 and 26 but see if they do. I have a 17 and a 26 that i use for scratch start and all the consumables interchange. That helps to keep the cost down.

Reply:I really like the superflex 9, I had to use the TA's 26 torch on some aluminum the other day, ugh what a beast.SqWave 200Millermatic 190Airco 200 ACHypertherm PM45Boice-Crane Band SawVictor O/A
