I got hold of a miller bluestar 2e and what just wondering what capabilities it has as far as a suitcase type wire feeder. It does not have any fancy plug ins or anything, just the lead connections and generator stuff. Is there a wire feeder that hooks up to only lead connections? I'm just curious, it's too close too Christmas to buy one anyway! 'preciate it!Beas
Reply:I started out on a 2E. They are great machines IMO. They are a CC only machine. The only feeder would be a CC/CV feeder like the Miller 8/12VS or Linc LN-25. I do not have my book in front of me, so I'm not sure what the arc voltage would be. I have an 8VS I run off of a Bobcat 225G. It will not run if the voltage drops below 15. The new 12VS Extreme will go down to 14vdc. If you can find one, a Miller 3045FC would be good. It is a voltage sensing unit with a 120vac drive motor. It will go down much lower than the other VS feeders. Too bad they discointinued it. The Miller S-32s may be a choice as well. All of this depends on how much voltage the arc puts out. The new Bluestars don't put out enough to trigger the drive motors. I am not sure about the older ones. |
