I'm piecing together a low budget TIG setup to get my feet wet with TIG. I've been welding thin wall tubing with a 110v Bluepoint MIG up until now and am curious what Tungsten to run just to weld mild steel? Also, what filler rod? Would stainless filler rod just be a pain? Thanks in advance guys
Reply:Depends on the machine you r using, Lanthanated works good for inverters. Buy it via ebay. Cheapest way to go. Still hard to beat the 140ST from everlast or longevity for a cheap tig setup. 140 amps is a good amount of current for DC tig. Try and score yourself a used dc tig machine. Most end up coming with extras like consumables and often cylinder and regulator...And please try using the search function this is a topic that has been covered hundreds of times.Tiger Sales: AHP Distributor www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P, Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.
